Read in your browser. Your book isn’t uploaded until you choose to narrate it.

What happens to your PDF

A PDF is made for paper. We take out everything that only works on a page, so what you hear is just your book.

Chapters found for you. Headings like “Chapter 7” or “Part Two” start a new chapter, and each keeps its title.

Page numbers and headers gone. Page numbers, and the title or name repeated at the top of every page, aren’t read aloud.

Paragraphs put back together. Words split across lines with a hyphen are joined, and paragraphs are rebuilt from the page.

Front matter left out. The copyright page, contents and dedication aren’t read aloud. Switch any of them back on with one click.

A voice for every character. Every line of dialogue is matched to who says it. Give each character a voice, or keep to one narrator.

Text PDFs, not scans. A scanned PDF is pictures of pages, with no text to read. Export a PDF from your writing app, or upload the Word file or EPUB.

How it works

From manuscript to audiobook in an afternoon. Upload it, cast it, press play. The narration, the mastering and the files are done for you.

Drop in your manuscript. Chapters are found for you. The copyright page and contents are left out, and nothing is read that only makes sense on paper.

Written for the ear. Footnote marks go, and “see the table below” is reworded so it makes sense out loud.

A voice for every character. Every line of dialogue is matched to who says it, so Elizabeth sounds like Elizabeth from chapter 1 to chapter 61.

No. A scanned PDF is pictures of pages, with no text in it to read. Export a new PDF from Word or your writing app, or upload the Word file or EPUB instead.

No. Page numbers and the lines repeated at the top or bottom of every page are taken out, and words hyphenated across lines are joined, before anything is read.

Most novels are narrated within an hour or two. You can close the tab while it works; we email you when the audiobook is ready, and each chapter can be played as soon as it’s done.

Add the word and how to say it once and every chapter uses it. You can read a single line again without redoing the chapter.

Yes, on paid plans, and we take no royalties. Spotify for Authors, Kobo and Google Play Books accept AI narration when you say so. Audible’s ACX asks for human narration, so Amazon’s Virtual Voice is the only AI route there.
